# 423 – Lethal Weapon

lethal-weapon.jpg

Do you really wanna jump? Do you wanna?

Yes, you do! Jump straight into the Lethal Weapon franchise. The first instalment is the only one that makes the list though so if you hate it don’t feel forced into watching the others.

You know I don’t like ‘reviewing’ the classics – I’m just a noob recording what movies I watch from some dumb list, I don’t have the skills of a real reviewer. Just know that it is actually awesome, I love it, and you should watch it! One of my favourite parts is at the end when all the cops just stand around and watch the good guy V the bad guy in a fist fight because he deserved it. HAHA, so great.

Oh, and how’s this for a headspin – according to IMDB, Bruce Willis was considered to play the role of Riggs but he turned it down, he got his role in Die Hard after Mel turned that down! Crazy stuff.

Enjoy

# 430 – Big Trouble in Little China

btlc

I have got to look into these movies before I watch them! Yet again, I had this one all wrong.

It is a must watch, honestly, it’s great… in a ridiculous, over the top, total nonsense kind of way. Very entertaining and funny. It’s almost like it’s taking the piss the entire way through.

Directed by John Carpenter (he’s a big deal, done lots of stuff, look him up) it has this ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ and ‘Ghostbusters’ kind of feel to it. Damsel in distress, cocky typical American guy and the weird old magic Asian just come together to make a fun movie with terribly awesome costume designs and one liners.

Here’s a spot of trivia for you gaming nerds:
Apparently Raidens’ (Mortal Kombat) appearance is taken from the lightning character in BTLC.. don’t hold me to that, it’s just what I’ve read.
WoW players may know what the Six Demon Bag is, a trinket with which the tooltip says “Blast enemies with the power of wind, fire, that kind of thing!”… a direct quote from one of the characters about his six demon bag.

So there you have it, fun for the whole family!! Get watching 🙂

# 426 – Kill Bill Vol. 2 & # 333 – Kill Bill Vol.1

Quentin Tarantino is one of my favourite directors, and I really don’t know that many. I hope to one day name my baby Tarantino, because he’s the best and also because it’s fun to say. I have this obsession with slightly stupid, disgusting, over the top, violent movies, like Machete. I heard Robert Rodriguez and QT are tight… so that explains a lot.

I was SO excited to watch this. I’d only seen parts of it before and let me tell you, it was just as fantastic as I’d imagined. Best part ever.. the blood spray when somebody’s limb is cut off, always have a good giggle at that.

It’s got some bad ass girl power! I love every single one of the assassins, great actors. Awesome fighting scenes, good fun and an easy story to follow.

Love every minute of it, so it makes the next one on my Top Ten list! And I’m counting it as one movie because it’s one big story chopped in half, it’s not a sequel people!

Enjoy

# 431 – Electra Glide in Blue (1973)

electra_cover

A story following a good cop with a dream.

John Wintergreen patrols the roads but he longs to be a detective. His chance finally comes when his patrolling job leads him to a crime scene set up to look like a suicide. But Johnny has his suspicions!

He gets a small taste of what being a detective is like before heading back to his life on the road.

Quite a long movie with one hell of an unexpected and unnecessary twist at the end!

I didn’t hate it, but that’s two good hours I’ll never get back.

#411 – Iron Man & #92 Iron Man 3

iron-man

Nope, Iron Man 2 didn’t make the cut. But who cares, its like the middle child that everyone forgets about.

Iron Man must be the superhero every guy wants to be. He’s got all the chicks and all the money and says and does whatever he wants… makes for very good entertainment actually.
There is not another person in the whole entire world that is better suited to Iron Man than Robert Downey JR. I really love this guy. Such a dick though.

I do have a slight issue with the change in actors for the character Rhodey, but I think Don Cheadle does it better anyway so I won’t complain too much.

Not much else to say here! Definitely worth your time if you haven’t already seen it. The trilogy plus The Avengers is well worth a weekend at home on the lounge with your family 🙂

Enjoy x

#412 – Men in Black

men-in-black-ii-5047387b8d6de

It was so good to watch this again! Unfortunately II and III aren’t on the list but I think I’ll watch them soon anyway, such an awesome trilogy.

I really can’t think of much to say about it though. Men dress up in suits and fight aliens. That’s pretty much the gist of it. I can’t even say anything bad.
It is a given that Will Smith makes this movie. Without him it probably would get dropped down a few notches, I really enjoy him and wish he would be my friend. Jada, you are one lucky lady!

If it’s been a while since you’ve seen it… dig it out! Or download it. Whichever.

# 414 – Spider-Man 2

spider-man-2

I’ll keep this one pretty simple because a) everyone’s seen spider man and b) it’s pretty crappy. Nope, not a huge fan. I mean who likes spiders anyway?
My nephew would probably disagree with me (or at least he would have 10 years ago when he was like 3 years old) he thought spider man was the bomb and asked his mum when he would get webs coming out of his wrists.

No other spider man movie appears on the big list so this one must have been special. The good/bad guy Octavius is quite a remarkable villain and of course the effects are pretty great. I just can’t seem to love any of the characters, except for Harry, and he’s hardly in it. Even sweet old Aunt May annoys the shit out of me.

Buuuuttt.. it’s spiderman, kind of like a rite of passage when becoming a superhero movie fan (I don’t pretend to have ever read the comic books, I had a life).

I will leave you with one of the only quotes worth your time in the Spiderman series…

“With great power….” Kidding.

“I believe there’s a hero in all of us, that keeps us honest, gives us strength, makes us noble. And finally gets us to die with pride. Even though sometimes we have to be steady and give up the thing we want the most, even our dreams.”
Aww Aunt May! So wise.
