#411 – Iron Man & #92 Iron Man 3

Nope, Iron Man 2 didn’t make the cut. But who cares, its like the middle child that everyone forgets about.

Iron Man must be the superhero every guy wants to be. He’s got all the chicks and all the money and says and does whatever he wants… makes for very good entertainment actually.
There is not another person in the whole entire world that is better suited to Iron Man than Robert Downey JR. I really love this guy. Such a dick though.

I do have a slight issue with the change in actors for the character Rhodey, but I think Don Cheadle does it better anyway so I won’t complain too much.

Not much else to say here! Definitely worth your time if you haven’t already seen it. The trilogy plus The Avengers is well worth a weekend at home on the lounge with your family 🙂

Enjoy x

# 414 – Spider-Man 2

I’ll keep this one pretty simple because a) everyone’s seen spider man and b) it’s pretty crappy. Nope, not a huge fan. I mean who likes spiders anyway?
My nephew would probably disagree with me (or at least he would have 10 years ago when he was like 3 years old) he thought spider man was the bomb and asked his mum when he would get webs coming out of his wrists.

No other spider man movie appears on the big list so this one must have been special. The good/bad guy Octavius is quite a remarkable villain and of course the effects are pretty great. I just can’t seem to love any of the characters, except for Harry, and he’s hardly in it. Even sweet old Aunt May annoys the shit out of me.

Buuuuttt.. it’s spiderman, kind of like a rite of passage when becoming a superhero movie fan (I don’t pretend to have ever read the comic books, I had a life).

I will leave you with one of the only quotes worth your time in the Spiderman series…

“With great power….” Kidding.

“I believe there’s a hero in all of us, that keeps us honest, gives us strength, makes us noble. And finally gets us to die with pride. Even though sometimes we have to be steady and give up the thing we want the most, even our dreams.”
Aww Aunt May! So wise.

#432 – X-Men 2

X2You are a god among insects. Never let anyone tell you different.”

X-Men unite! I do love a good franchise… and who doesn’t love X-Men?! Although the title really is sexist, I mean there are also X-Ladies. But I won’t go all feminist on you just yet.

For those of you who can count… Ok yes, fine! We did skip a few movies. Nine to be exact. In our defence, it was a Saturday night and we felt like watching something we KNEW would be good. Dad and I are quite the risky duo, but sometimes you just need a movie you can trust ya know? We were hoping to tick off a couple more by watching the full box set. Unfortunately though, movie number 2 is the only one that appears on the list!

I won’t go into too much detail on the movie, if you haven’t seen it you obviously are a weirdo and probably won’t be reading this anyway. So I’ll move on to some interesting facts …

1. The extras doing the frozen scenes were actually mimes! I totally knew it.
2. The mansion used for the school is the same mansion from Smallville (Lex Luther lives there) and the mansion used in Billy Madison.
3. When Iceman tells his parents he is a mutant, it was meant to look like a ‘coming out’ conversation. Apparently in the 2015 comics it is revealed that Iceman actually is gay.

There are 1000 more references and cool facts but you can find them out yourselves 😉 Now go watch some X-Men/Ladies…!

# 451 – Unbreakable

Surprise! We didn’t give up… just had a short break. And what a great movie to get us back into the swing of things!

Look, let’s just be honest, I don’t know if there will ever be a movie that I hate if Brucey is in it (have I mentioned this before?), he is seriously one of the best actors I know. If I ever come across a Bruce Willis hater I’ll punch them in the face.

I’d seen this movie a verrrryyy long time ago, probably when it first came out which would have made me 11 years old and the one scene I remembered is the part where the orange man pushes him over the balcony and into the pool. I think it must have affected me emotionally because I remember it so vividly (and I’m scared of pool covers). Not one other part was familiar to me.

I love the superhero/real world analogies, what a great way to look at comic books! Like they are all someone’s story, from long ago.. just exaggerated and commercialised. When you take all of that away, there are real life heroes and villains.

Shout out to M. Night Shyamalan… what a clever man! We love your movies buddy!

A must watch! Even without Bruce and the superhero stuff, it’s a great movie with an even greater twist.
